Abstract:

Introduction: From a long time ago, benefiting from TECHNOLOGY has been an inevitable thing for human interests, which is born AND based on SCIENCE. It can be claimed that there is harmony between ethics, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, which promote each other. In this article, the researcher discusses this harmony AND compatibility. Material AND Methods: The current review study was descriptive AND using the study of sources AND research keywords among the books AND articles published in the databases of Thomson Information Institute, SCIENCE Direct AND Pub Med. Conclusion: As SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY continue to advance AND become more integrated into our daily lives, ethical considerations become increasingly important. For example, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has raised questions about the potential implications of creating machines that can make autonomous decisions AND take actions. If SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY were considered as a tool, it should have been able to subjugate humans AND influence all aspects of behavior AND values. While it has become a problem that eventually becomes aligned with morality by applying reason, AND people now seek help from it as a tool.

Abstract:

The paper offers a distinctive reading of Popper’s work, suggesting that his Logic of Scientific Discovery (LScD) might be re-interpreted in the light of his Open Society. Indeed, Popper can be interpreted as criticising certain aspects of his first book, AND as a result improving upon them, in his second. It suggests translating what Popper says about ‘conventions’ into his later vocabulary of ‘social institutions’. Looking back, I believe that Popper never intended the language of conventions AND decisions to be read individualistically. I remain unsure whether Popper was himself quite as clear about this as he could have been.  My reading makes Popper a pioneer in the sociology of SCIENCE. Scientific institutions are arenas of political power; but Popper did not discuss the structure AND inter-relations of the social institutions of SCIENCE, or offer a politics of SCIENCE in the context of his methodology. What is missing from the skeletal sociology of LScD is the politics. We could put it in Popperian terms this way: scientific institutions are both open AND closed. They are closed, firmly, to the inexpert, to the non-members; supposedly they are open to the qualified, provided the prerogatives of seniority AND leadership are acknowledged. Despite these shortcomings, Popper’s critical AND rational approach AND his insistence on openness AND intellectual honesty are still important today.

Abstract:

Many books have been written to illustrate the position of the new technologies in teaching AND learning a foreign or second language (L2); nonetheless, most of these books have not been successful. The HANDbook of TECHNOLOGY AND Second Language Teaching AND Learning edited by Caral A. Chapell AND Shanon Sauro AND published by Wiley Blackwell in 2017, provides a comprehensive overview of the various facets of the use of TECHNOLOGY in teaching AND learning an L2. This book has not been translated into Persian AND no critical review has been published for it; accordingly, this study sought to both introduce AND critically review this book. The current critical review revealed some advantages including comprehensiveness of the whole book, the expertise of the writers, up-to-dateness, content AND format integrity, AND the use of valid sources. The main criticisms are the exclusion of some of the very recent technologies, perhaps due to the ever-changing AND exponentially volatile nature of the technological improvements AND expansions, the introduction of too many technologies at the theoretical level without providing information about their practical use. Generally, the book is an invaluable AND academically written source for L2 practitioners, postgraduate students, AND researchers.

Abstract:

The Art of ISLAMIC Banking AND Finance narrates the author’ s (Yahia Abdul-Rahman) achievement in constituting an interest-free bank in the U. S. A. As a matter of fact, he explores banking AND finance laws AND regularities in the U. S as well as the ISLAMIC banking system in the world. The remarkable difference between these two kinds of banking systems is that the former is based on the monetary market AND the latter on the real economy. In the ISLAMIC banking system, the rent expense of a commodity to be financed is measured based on rules known as “ commodity indexation” AND “ marking to market” . Moreover, in such a system, the interest rate of the ordinary banking system is substituted with the rent expense of a commodity. Thus, rent expenses are not fixed like interest rates. The prominent characteristic of an ISLAMIC banking system is not only its interest-free feature but also its civility AND social responsibility. The main pitfalls of the book include a lack of comprehensive discussion AND a lack of reporting the ISLAMIC banking systems of other Muslim countries. Besides, no thorough analysis of banking system experiences has been done AND has not paid attention to the critique of the Iranian banking system.

Abstract:

To date, no experimental investigations utilizing petrographic, XRF, ICP, or TL methodologies have been undertaken for the analysis of Sasanian AND Early ISLAMIC pottery in Western Iran. Consequently, the findings of this study are anticipated to contribute valuable insights into the pottery production processes prevalent during this historical period in Western Iran. To achieve this objective, eight pottery specimens retrieved from the excavations of the Jahangir monument were submitted to the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage AND the Geological Survey for petrographic analysis, while two samples each were designated for XRF, ICP, AND thermoluminescence assessments. The primary research inquiries pertain to elucidating the composition AND structure of the pottery, determining the firing intensity in the kiln, AND discerning whether the pottery is of indigenous or imported origin. The outcomes of the experiments indicate the presence of three predominant compounds—quartz, iron oxide, AND calcite—in the majority of samples procured from the Jahangir monument. Nonetheless, certain pottery specimens incorporate mica particles or chert stone in the clay composition. With few exceptions, the pottery is ascertained to be domestically manufactured, denoting its local provenance within the region. The texture of the selected pottery samples is characterized as silty, porphyritic, AND inhomogeneously silty. The identification of calcite in the clay of all Jahangir pottery suggests a maximum kiln temperature of 800°C during the firing process. Furthermore, notwithstANDing a limited number of exceptions, the scarcity of soil variations in the majority of pottery specimens implies a shared geographical origin

Abstract:

1. Introduction In today's world, education is the fourth dimension of foreign policy. Educational cooperation is a kind of investment for the future of diplomatic relations among nations. Since the most political elites are selected from academia, the expansion of international scholarships AND the admission of international students are two ways of introduction of their cultures AND communities to the future political leaders AND the senior executives around the world. Academic relations can also develop political AND economic relations between the governments. It is argued that from an economic point of view, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy can save countries’ national economies, because, first, it accelerates countries’ scientific development; second, it creates a wealth of economic experience AND connections, AND third, it expANDs trade, industry, SCIENCE, AND national gross income as an economic resource. From a cultural point of view, the most important function of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy is to spread AND export the values, principles, norms, AND meanings of the national culture of countries to the international arena. One of the pillars of the foreign policy of the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran since the ninth government onward has been to expAND the relations with Asian countries in the form of Look East Policy. This article tries to analyze AND evaluate a part of Look East Policy, namely SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy of the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran toward the countries of the Southeast Asia region, especially the ISLAMIC countries of this region. On this basis, we first address the issue of what is SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy AND what are its components, features, AND dimensions. Secondly, what are the goals AND manifestations of this type of diplomacy? Third, what is the place of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy in the Look East Policy of the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran, AND finally, how is Iran's SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy evaluated in relation to the ISLAMIC countries of Southeast Asia, namely Malaysia AND Indonesia? 2. Discussion AND Result If we want to study the SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy of the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran toward the ISLAMIC countries of Southeast Asia, namely Indonesia, Malaysia AND Brunei, this study has to be done based on documented data. Unfortunately, there was no data on the country of Brunei in the research process, AND therefore, this country was removed from the list of countries which were surveyed. There were also scattered data on scientific AND technological cooperation of Iran on the one hAND AND Malaysia AND Indonesia on the other hAND, based on which the data of this topic has been adjusted. However, the SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy of the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran toward the ISLAMIC countries of Southeast Asia is significant in some indicators, including joint scientific productions with researchers from Malaysia, the establishment of a Persian language department at Putra University Malaysia AND the conclusion of memorANDums AND academic agreements, but in some respects it still needs further strengthening. It seems that before addressing other indicators of the SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy of the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran toward the ISLAMIC countries of Southeast Asia, the issue of reviewing the Look East Policy should be on the agenda of the country's policymakers. Accordingly, the Look East Policy should move away from the initial reactionary AND reflective status AND become a strategic AND long-term plan of Iran's foreign policy. The ISLAMIC Republic of Iran can easily expAND its cooperation with the mentioned countries in various fields, including SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, by belonging to the civilization of the Orient AND having some cultural AND religious commonalities AND historical relations with the inhabitants of the Southeast Asian countries. Therefore, it must take a strategic AND long-term approach to the great society of the East AND devise a suitable strategy to make optimal use of the maximum capacity of Asian countries AND promote its national interests. 3. Conclusion In this regard, due to some cultural AND religious commonalities, AND historical relations with the countries of Southeast Asia, it is possible to come up with proposals focusing on different dimensions of diplomacy, which can be viewed as strategies for expANDing SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy under the Look East Policy: • Holding joint scientific conferences AND meetings in various areas; • Identifying the scientific capabilities of the ISLAMIC countries of the region AND trying to strengthen relations in those fields; • Compilation of a SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy document AND determining the position of ISLAMIC countries in the Southeast Asian region; • Making efforts at further expansion of the exchange of professors AND students between the ISLAMIC Republic of Iran AND the ISLAMIC countries of the region; • Promoting cooperation of national scientific AND technological institutions with their counterparts in the ISLAMIC countries of the region; • Establishig Persian language departments in Malaysian AND Indonesian universities; • Using the capacity of regional institutions AND organizations to expAND scientific AND technological relations; • Holding training courses for Iranian ambassadors AND diplomats in the countries of the region to get acquainted with SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY diplomacy as well as the scientific developments in the country of mission.

Abstract:

Our analysis of Popper’s philosophy of SCIENCE focuses on his concepts of tradition AND situational analysis. These concepts represent innovative Popperian contributions to a historical AND hermeneutical turn in philosophy of SCIENCE that most of his critics, especially Kuhn, fail to recognize. According to his historical view, Popper conceives SCIENCEs as a complex of traditions in continuous transformation AND progress by means of rational discussion of theories. In order to grasp the rational progress of scientific traditions, Popper proposes an original method that he calls “situational analysis”. This hermeneutical method seeks to understAND the concepts, hypotheses, actions, practices, controversies AND products that scientists made to solve problems in their specific historical contexts to improve the truth content of theories. In addition to his historical AND hermeneutical turn, Popper also inquired about the social AND political conditions for the progress of scientific traditions by means of intersubjective criticism of theories AND conjectures. According to him, the rational discussion of ideas requires, as necessary conditions, plurality of ideas, intellectual humility, AND freedom of thought AND communication that can only exist in an open AND democratic society. With these considerations, we may say that in addition to a historical AND hermeneutical turn, Popper also contributed to a social AND political turn in the philosophy of SCIENCE

Abstract:

In this study, leaming intensity is measured in terms of labor cost savings AND productivity growth through experience, as well as the effects of mergers  AND acquisitions on TECHNOLOGY learning using a learning curve AND its effects on the performance of oil, gas AND products companies. Oil listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange will be evaluated. The novelty of this article is to explain the direct AND indirect effects of M&A (mergers  AND acquisitions) in TECHNOLOGY learning that leads to the learning curve model with the M&A factor in the oil, gas AND petroleum products It can be seen that traditional learning through experience has not reduced costs by increasing cumulative production in refineries AND petrochemical companies. Economies of scale have also failed to reduce operating costs by increasing production at refineries. Learning by research in refining AND petrochemical companies has also reduced operating costs by a year, but is less severe. This study also shows that there is no direct effect of mergers AND acquisitions on TECHNOLOGY learning in the combination of refining AND petrochemical companies. In addition, the indirect effects of mergers AND acquisitions on TECHNOLOGY learning are seen only in petrochemical companies.

Abstract:

The article first studies the basic discussions on SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY. Then, using a philosophical-analytic approach it is shown that the model of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY development can be described as ISLAMIC-Iranian for two main reasons. Based on this introduction, it is argued that the national system of innovation is not sufficient to cover the concept of ISLAMIC-Iranian model of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY development AND that applying the concept of context system can provide a more comprehensive analysis in this case. In the second part of the article, the importance of scientific policy versus research method AND the motivation for concentration on ISLAMIC-Iranian model are studied. Then, strategies for realizing the ISLAMIC-Iranian model of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY development are offered. The ideas of these strategies come from discussions with scholars of this field. Then, these ideas have been incorporated III brainstorm meetings of experts of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY policy.

Abstract:

A Study of Geometry in ISLAMIC Architecture by Professor Golroo Najibaaghlou is a valuable work in the field of ISLAMIC architecture. This book has a detailed preface, a brief introduction, AND five main sections. As it is known from the introduction of the book, this book was originally written for a non-Iranian audience. The first purpose of writing this book is to try to moderate public belief about geometry AND the stages of compilation AND discussion in ISLAMIC architecture. Another purpose is to correct the negative view of the geometric documentation of ISLAMIC architecture in the West, because such a view has created a kind of reluctance to equate the works of ISLAMIC architecture with the great works of classical Western architecture. In addition, Najibaaghlou wants to reject AND respond to Western criticism that reduces ISLAMIC architecture to the level of an unedited work. In the final chapter of the book, Najibaaghlou looks at the compiled documents of ISLAMIC architecture from a Western perspective AND highlights some of the missed points of geometric SCIENCEs, including clarifying conceptualization, recording, AND transferring architectural design in the ISLAMIC world.
